Cicada Feast!

As you may know, Chicagoland area has been overrun by millions of large bugs called cicadas. They're really loud and smelly, and their shells are an inch deep around the base of every tree. But they don't bite, and they only live for a short time. [actually, they really didn't come to Wheaton much, I might have seen a total of four in our backyard, but the surrounding towns definitely got hit!] We've been hearing on the news a lot about all the creative ways to eat these annoying bugs, and since one only comes upon the opportunity every seventeen years, we decided to try this delicacy.

Here's the recipe:

1. catch and kill several cicadas

2. cut off the head, legs, and wings

3. sautee the abdomens in butter and parsely for about 4 minutes, or until tender

4. bon apetit!
here's all those brave enough to eat!
